I know it’s been months since the debut (free) album from The Weeknd blew up the blogospot, but I’m still figuratively spinning it regularly. And it’s a week(e)nd morning right now, so it’s an appropriate enough time to post the song I figure (using Tumblr’s Soundcloud integration for the first time).
House of Balloons is a such a haunting and intoxicating R&B album that roots itself deep into the listeners soul. Like some magical combination of R. Kelly and Burial. As is usual with any Canadian (Torontonian in this case) artist that enjoys some critical acclaim that I agree with, I can’t help but feel patriotically proud.
I’m not sure I’ve heard a better album yet this year.
