Darn. Was really hoping for something better. My expectations were raised as I’m such a fan of many other Brad Anderson films (Session 9, Happy Accidents, The Machinist) and his excellent TV directing work. Unfortunately, this was far to dull. It had a decent mood and good style but the story and performances were just too flat, along with a severe lack of tension for a film of this type. Not a bad film but really didn’t captivate me at all.
* hopefully this is the one dud that I seem to encounter each year (see 2008, 2009, 2010). Though I think prior years’ disappointments were more entertainingly bad or could inspire some discussion at least. This one was too much of a bore.
