“I collect hobbies.” The always luminous Rachel Weisz in The Brothers Bloom. I rewound and re-watched this scene about four times. Fun stuf.

Farewell To Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse (Finale... →
Starting in 6 minutes (EST). I’ll definitely be sad to see this show end. It’s been a really solid run, hitting its creative stride during this second half of its second season (though that’s likely attributable to Whedon et al’s need to wrap everything up as fast as possible with the end in such clear sight). Bravo on a fantastic series. I already can’t wait to...

Report: Dawson to enter Hall as Expo | MLB.com:... →
Joy of joys! The Expos contingent at the HoF just doubled. Thrilled by this news. I’ll have to make the somewhat-close trip back to Cooperstown to pay homage.

Slant Magazine redesigned →
I always get apprehensively excited (did I just contradict myself?) when one of my favourite websites gets a new look. I recall spending weeks deciding whether I liked a new last.fm layout (until I just ended up getting used to it and thus no longer caring). And back when Pitchfork somewhat mattered, their layout changes also shook the interents pretty hard. I’m sure there’s others...

– Conan O’Brien, January 12, 2010 (via NT Times - Media Decoder) I know O’Brien’s statement has made the rounds today, but I couldn’t wait to post it when I got home from work, so dammit I’m posting it in full as well. Such a perfectly worded statement. I’m on my...

– The Simpsons writer Matt Warburton, during The Simpson 20th Anniversary Special - In 3D! On Ice!, on the all too played out habit of fickle fans blindly critiquing a show that provides decades of laughs. I look forward to new Simpsons episodes as much today as I have during any of the past 20 years...

Montreal Expos, Forgotten by Many, Are Reuniting... →
Love them Expos. Always nice to see a mention in the mainstream press. And I’ll reiterate that I hope the HoF chooses an Expos cap for Andre Dawson’s plaque. Fingers crossed that Rock Rains will join the party. One day I’ll have to list my alltime favourite Montreal Expos.

Clipse + The Roots performing that alltime greatness, Grindin’ on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Yes. Yes. Yes. Only the two best hip-hop groups alive (and still regularly working together) combining on one stage to tackle one of my favourite songs. It may be an online-exclusive, but I’ll take what I can get. I’ve seen both acts live and have supremely fond memories of each. To...

decade in film: 2008
This will be last entry in the series for a while. The 2009 list will happen in February I imagine, after I’m satisfied with the number of films I’ve seen for that year. My top 2 of ‘09 is pretty well locked-in right now but of of the 32 films I’ve seen from 2009, I’d only be comfortable with 12 of of them making my top 20… but onto 2008. A very good fine year...
